I’m getting lost tonight

My eyes close to the fray
Opening in a moonlit symphony 
Where magic frolics to Bach’s play
I loved so hard 
Like when the house is built 
My love protects and surrounds
You promised to paint my walls and grow truth from faults 
I loved so hard 
You chipped the colors and slammed the door
Hands grabbing shambles
I swear to love…never again! 
While wounded blisters coat the skin
Along my window-seat
I ponder how love became an enemy
Unable to latch it down 
My imagination lifts it up 
Painting the skies 
In a far off place 
To be a portrait 
of an unwilling grave

Deducing your slouch
Back corner
Cigarette dangling down
Lids drawn like blinds
Table scribbles with tired hands
I sense anxiety choking like a corset
You and I baby
Wear depression like a headdress 
My feathers are humming rhymes for two
Heart beat drums, right on cue 
Seductions soprano
Climbing faster 
Than the timid alto
Hello…
My lips press and smile
I’ll cover the cost of confidence 
For the both of us
I hear your heavy tunes of sadness
But…why can’t we escalate  
The Bach and switch to jazz?
Just one dance…
Hands on my hips
Top floor corner room
Smoking please
No need for introductions 
Sit back and I’ll play you for the evening 
My body will sway with your rhythm and blues 
Moaning and blowing 
Your trumpet til morning 
Your somber stance 
Already livening up
You got number one on the track  
So hit play and let go

From your eyes
Your hawked eyed stare
Nibble and prick away
A heart you knelt down and caged
My wretched escape
The burning flames
Of a tortured mind
Hmm..but you paid no mind
As you lit your match
And left me
Unmanned
I’ve been gone so long
Trained up and rising
Now I am back

The scare jumps onto your face
Ding dong
I’m at your gate
My chained remains
You don’t bother hiding

The blasts threw us back

A thousand feet
At least
Eyes and innocence
Lacerated
Naked under the explosions
Bodies slain in aggression
Of the dominating dictator
Aiming for our hearts
Surviving through our thick skinned parts
As I opened my mind
I felt him
Through the dust and burn
His spirit sent me words
My bloody hands
Found their way
Clinched and his to stay
Escaping on our bellies
Through a maze of consequences
We weren’t sure if we woke
In hell or heaven yet
But we crawled on the scalding cement
Half alive on our journey
