My Scattered Heart

Do you ever wonder

About the pieces we give away
Trusting hearts
Vulnerability misplaced
The precious parts
We hand over like
Trading cards
For a temporary love
I think of mine
Inside dresser drawers
and back pockets
Of…wrinkled trousers
Tone deaf caskets
Scattered with my brothers ashes
The crusted corner of
A once unassuming smile
A handshake, a pinkie promise
A hopeful wish
We made together
Only to hear it crumble
My heart is scattered
With a forgotten child
And ancient lovers
Buried in a sandbox on Fredrick street
…that time capsule
Remember?
I feel the pressure
The beating twice as hard
Of the scars
That once held parts
And maybe I am not whole
But I am a growing seed
Planted throughout the world
And I wasn’t always right
To give it away
But I took the gamble
And there are these sweet moments
Where I won
Like a radiant flower
Linked up with the sun
Is she any less capable
Without each one of her petals?

  1. Very very moving, Kristin. Sometimes we feel like not being one whole but 1000 separate pieces and sometimes we find some more on our walk through the days and add them. But there are those sweet moments (as you said) when we can put some together like puzzle pieces and see a bit more of the whole (picture). Hugs 💖

  2. you have a way of tying so many pieces of the past, present and the unknown as one and you make it so real
    and so chilling
and yet it requires just being in that space and time. i just had to re read it
    and it is so chiling
and moving in a part of the soul. you got that thing. and you know it.

In life we find pieces that which we come across, picked them up and find new meaning of which life holds us within.

I miss reading your work. I’m so glad your back. 🙂

      2. It was fanatic. Saturday got to spend it with my girlfriend. Went out on a date and then watched scary movies. Sunday, I got to spend it all by myself, writing, and doing a lot of reading. And then – I went to go and visit my close friend. Got to talk about a lot of things, movies, and projects. It was amazing and to talk to someone always brings me joy and happiness. 🙂 That was my weekend.

This coming weekend will be more happy for me. 🙂

Do you have any plans for this weekend?

Guess what? I got 2 poems to finish and then I’ll be posting. 🙂 yay!!!

      3. I’m really fortunate to have some awesome people in my life and yes special someone too :)) Also just enjoying life in each moment and not getting so bogged down with what’s looming- if course I don’t always get this right but it’s heading in a good direction right now. How’s my Charlie?

      4. That is good news. I’m happy for you and your boyfriend. 🙂 Happiness is a blessing. 🙂

I’m always here if you need a friend to talk to. 🙂 Life hangs on us like a scale. We must keep it at its balance. That is the best advice I can give. 🙂

I’m doing well. Just working, writing, reading and working out a lot. 🙂
Things are looking good and beautiful at the moment. 🙂

      5. Charlie I adore you. It’s an incredible feeling when I read your words to me. You have a positive trail that I grab ahold of and follow. Follow that feeling! Happiness is a blessing, yes, and tho I am facing some struggles currently I am still happy because dammit there are good things in this life and to be in the present and focus on them is what grows that happiness. The struggles will always be won’t they but they don’t have to be greater than us.
Thank you for your words Charlie. You are a wonderful part of my happiness 😊

  4. *smile* Sometimes, it seems worth all the trouble, doesn’t it? Brilliant, milady… .Beautiful, as well; intensely personal, moving, stretching, mourning, both exhibiting & promising growth…

    Nailed it.

  5. You glow so much more than any ‘petal’ in this world Kristin. You have gained so much…all because of your journey.
And I can ‘see’ it within you, as each bump is traversed, and each pain is felt, that heart within gets brighter and brighter.
It may not feel like it sometimes, but I swear to you, it is given with a love like no other, so that you can understand…you!
And it is because of what you have endured, that your heart speaks with these words.
Very beautiful in their expression, and much wisdom in their meaning.
You may have many patches on your heart, but wear them with love, for they are building something magical, a truth and beauty beyond measure.
Thank you for sharing kind lady, it is a pleasure to ‘hear’ the gift of your journey ❤

    1. Thank you Mark! Your words mean so much to me. More and more I understand and connect with the wisdom you gave me and it’s exciting. It’s like a veil lifting, still not always easy tho but different and a good different. I love the idea of having many patches. That’s really beautiful and I will wear them with love. Thank you so much my sweet friend ❤

  8. Are you writing your thoughts down at this moment, you know, what you share will always generate responses, especially from those who genuinely care for your selfless heart and spirit. You are a treasure, take a moment and forgive yourself, you are so very rare and important to this world. You really have something to say and share…just do it! Missing you my sister! May your thanksgiving be blessed and amazing!

    Peace of Mind

    I rest silently in the
    fullness of Your love
    tasting of its peace,
    happiness and joy

    It is my home, my
    sanctuary from the
    evil of the world

    It is also
    the food and drink
    my spirit needs

    My soul needs to rest
    in You every moment of
my day so I may have
    peace of mind.

This poem made me think of you.
It sounded like your soul speaking
to the one who brings a peace which
    stays. God Bless!
