Paper Ears

I needed to get back 

To the lab again

Alone with paper and pen 

All these emotions 

Shooting through me 

In an unannounced current 

Of electricity 

Keeping me up turning 

The spin of the ballerina in that box

Hearing the music of my own 

…melodic thoughts

Like a deer in the woods 

Frolicking and evading 

The hunters postured in each direction 

The compass behind my eyes

Faithfully guided me to a covered protection 

To transfer the impulses from 

inside 

…to out 

All I needed to do was

Write

Them 

Down

  21. the think tank. the link . the gist is a mist of covering the son with cold cloudy october morns. the form is not from you to i. there is no we and as you can see abandoned on a beach with detritus and the flotsam is rotten too.

  24. I like the imagery of the deer evading the hunters – it’s not just positive, it adds a contagious degree of joy in the build-up to the conclusion of your poem. For that matter, I like the transformation that your poem makes … a sort of panicked urgency in the beginning, that moves to the joy, and then ends with a degree of simplicity that totally negates the panic from the beginning.
