Reality Wednesday

“Men have the drive to provide for their family- it fuels their being. This is something a woman just does not understand”.

-Random Person

Whaaaaat?!! Is this really the belief in current circulation? That is more of a rhetorical question. I am not here to battle or call anyone out. I am here to share about this woman (ah hem…me) and maybe shed some light on dusty minds…

I understand

The drive

The passion

Every pulse of this being

Beating through my breath and body

Is a mama warrior fighting

Forget the ladder

And crush that glass ceiling

Baby, I am outside your window

Scaling that sky scraping building

Full time, part time, side jobs…

One, two, sometimes…

Three jobs

Earning my stripes

Throw my suit in the “provider” fight

So, with all due respect

Sir…

Yes- I do understand

The drive to provide for my family

For when I rip my skin

It bleeds red, white

And them!

  1. I don’t think this guy is being totally fair. Women, now-a-day, thanks to modern society and the progression of the breakdown of societal beliefs and morals, have been placed in a position of having to provide for their family. And a woman will do almost anything for her babies. She will fight until the cows come home. I do believe that it is the natural instinct of a man to provide, but with the breakdown of family and family values, and the rise of women in the workplace (post-Industrialism and war times), there’s been a shift. Of course with the plethora of broken and dysfunctional families as well, things have taken a turn over the past 50 years or so. Soooooo, I think it’s normal for many women not to understand that men want to and naturally have the drive to provide.

      1. I know what you mean SG. It happens to me all the time. I have to right into my blog because I often don’t receive notifications. It’s a real bummer actually.
Hope you had an amazing weekend.

  2. I would tend to ignore anything else this person said; he’s made an error common to almost all idiots, in first stating an obvious truth, (actually, half-truth, as it applies to the species as a whole, not just one gender), then trying to justify their own existence by stating an opinion, that has no basis in reality…. Typical male attitude in today’s world, where men who have no talent, no personality, no honor, and no functioning neurons, are yet led to believe they are inherently better than a woman, merely because they have a penis, which they have no concept of how to use….

Sorry, but, some of us guys don’t buy into that bullshit, and can only applaud your restraint. I’d probably have laughed, spit near his shoes to clear the bad taste in the air in their vicinity, and strolled off chuckling, if I managed not to slap him…. You’re a nicer trooper than me….

  4. I have to say that I agree with that guy. Nothing bad that a man feels that is his obligation to provide for the family, feeling like a real man. Which doesn´t take away that women are more than capable to do the same. I don´t see how one thing can nullify the other, they´re coexistent. You´re a perfect example of it.

    1. Thank you my friend. Yes I def think men feel that way-all I am saying is that to say a woman does not understand that feeling is not totally true of all woman-cuz some of us are raising our kids on our own-so yeah, i understand that feeling :)) Thank you for your sweetness and awesomeness-as always.

  5. Interesting debate. I’ve read all the comments trying to understand the thoughts. All this seems to be very different from what I know. I am still to understand how ‘a man has a drive to provide for their family a woman does not understand.’ I don’t see how this makes sense. Many women provide more for their families. Can I say I am a little lost?

    1. Yeah, I was lost too. It is not really a debate-more just me sharing a reaction to a comment given to me where a man said women do not understand this. I was lost too ;)) Thank you for coming by-I always love to read your posts, they are so full of wisdom and positivity.

      1. I am happy to hear your words of appreciation Souldiergirl. Going by the comments I’ve read on your site, you must be a very tough woman. I like tough women. I encourage my girls to be tough to find their way in a tough world. They are.

      2. Thank you so much! Sorry for my late response- I missed this somehow. I am glad you are raising your girls that way- that is the best thing to do- because yes it is a very rough world and your girls will be able to rise- even when they fall. 💙
