I feel strange
I feel like that piece of the metal chain
That’s about to fall from the rest
But still dangling
The world is black and boring
At every turn the demons are raging
Any light is usually only a lining
Follow it and you’re bound to burn
There came a hard fist thrusting into my gut
While I was wide awake
It broke me down from the inside out
Exposing my little world as a fickle and fake
Burning my eyes while they were open
To see life in the sickness of its reality
It scraped all the childlike hope from me
Any last shred of seductive imagery
This continued until I was void
Then it left
I have forgotten who I was
The beast has made my softness hard
I breathe against his fangs, clawed in a spirit
Permanently scarred
